Well didn't expect the thread to be this long already...so nope...didn't read all the entries, just putting in my two-cents in regards to the original news posting.
I am quite aware of the fact that EVE is generally speaking a PvP game, but it sure isn't the reason I started playing the game. What drew me originaly to the game was and still is the huge tech tree which is reminicent of many stand-alone games I have played and enjoyed. Then I found out about all the things a person can do that does not involve PvP, but is true PvE, and in no particular order, I really enjoy the mission running, mining, manufacturing, and the trading.
These PvE aspects of the game is what I enjoy about the game and what keeps me playing and yes, paying for 4 seperate accounts.
After reading the news article, I'd like to know where GoonSwarm gets off thinking they can dictate how people should be playing the game? Oh, I'm quite sure there is a hidden agenda that wasn't mentioned in the article, and I'm definately not upset that probably most of their targets were macros...but the blanket statement that everyone by the time they are able to fly a hulk should be in 0.0 lawless space is making a great deal of assumptions and most of them wrong.
If I wanted to PvP, or worry about politics and war, I'd be out there as well. That's not my type of game or personality and I'm quite certain I'm not alone in this. War in my opinion is a waste of time, energy, money, and lives whether in real life or in virtual reality...about the only good thing is that in EVE it isn;t real lives that are lost or ruined. Politics is no different, just a bunch of people saying what others want to hear just so they can get what...money, prestige, power? At what cost? It sure isn't for the people they are representing and all that power, money and prestige...they sure can't take it with them when they die.
So hey...you wanna bring your PvP/0.0 fleet into Empire space, where by your own words you don't belong, and beat up on some macros or farmers...go for it. Just leave the honest players that just want to have some fun time away from the real world alone.
Oh yeah...before you even ask, this is just a plain ol' alt that's not in any corp or woth much. I'm not entirely stupid here. I use my primary alt to post this message and it would be like target painting my ship and small corp...something my corpmates don't need or deserve.
